See You Later Alligator.....

What is the scariest thing you have been close to in the wild?

These wonderful creatures have been around for a very long time, so they must be doing something right. The St. Johns River is full of alligtors but still it is not always easy to spot one in the wild. This fellow was at the opening of where the river hit the run at Blue Springs, made famous by Jacques Cousteau in his TV documentary.

  1. I've not been close to anything as scary as that.We are rather cloistered in this country, of course. Maybe the scariest was an irate farmer's wife with a shotgun!

  2. This gator looks great and quite big! Last year, we rented a canoe in the Okeefenokee Swamp and at times couldn't put our paddles into the water because the alligators were so close. All my photos are out of focus because my hands were shaking so badly. It was awesome and scary at the same time... :) Silke

  9. I've never been close to a 'gator but my hubby is from South Florida and has seen quite a lot of them.

PS - thanks for all your recent questions about my art journal. I answered them on my blog today.

  10. I've been way too close to some crocodiles in Australia [shivers]. They even have salt water crocs that swim in the ocean! Those are the mean ones! So sharks, box jellyfish and crocs pretty much keep you out of the ocean there, LOL
