Veterans!

I went to Tapestry's blog today and she posted a lovely blog about our veterans and I just feel awful that the whole thing slipped my muddled mind as far as posting something about it on my blog.

I would first like to thank the veterans in my own family.

My Dad served in WWII as a transport pilot flying C-130's. He was stationed in England for most of the war, although he did do some ferrying of aircraft back and forth from the states as well. He spent his career in the Air Force and retired from the Air Force after 28 years in.

My oldest brother who is 10 years older than me served in Vietnam flying Hughey Helecopters. He also spent 20 years in the service and retired from the US Army. He graduated from West Point in 1959.

My younger brother served in Vietnam as an Tank Commander in Vietnam. He is five years older than I am. He went in the service right out of college. He too remained in the service for over 10 years and then got out.

My husband flew Warthogs in Vietnam. His missions were mostly flown out of Thailand. My husband also spent a career in the Air Force.

So, I would like to thank them for their service to our country.

In addition, I want to thank all the men and women who risk their lives every day defending our country. There just can't be enough said about that. They are all heroes in my book.

And how do you ever thank those who have already sacrificed their lives. It just is not possible.

God Bless their families and loved ones and may they find some peace with their losses.

  1. Your post touched my heart:) I bet you have many stories to tell. I do not have family members who served in wars but I have seen hw my country went from communism to democracy and I think I understand a lot how you feel. Plus in our family many members have been deported to Russia in gulacs after WW2 :(
I wish you a great day.
